Me with a couple of my dogs 8/13/2011

(Me & My Family 7/2007)
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I have to admit that for a long time my
favorite breed was the Doberman Pincher. When we moved to Honduras, Central America in 1986 I took
a female I had raised. Towards the end of 1986 another missionary gave us a German Shepherd and I have been in LOVE
with them ever since!!!
While in Honduras our dogs were mainly
watchdogs. They acquired quite a reputation. One of the females that we raised
there, earned one
point towards an International Championship.
The first Shepherd I showed and titled in the
USA was a very nice male that we bought in the summer of 1989, while back in
the states on a visit. When we moved back to the states in 1993 I became
very interested in showing my dogs. After learning a few things
I entered my first show in 1995 and have been showing ever since.
What I want in my dogs is stability and
versatility. I prefer a mixture of American show lines and German show
lines. This has worked well for me. My dogs are neither too soft
(like some American show lines), nor do they have too strong of a prey drive
(like some German show lines.) Most people that want a great companion
dog cannot handle the really
strong prey drive that some shepherds have, and for that reason I prefer the
combination. I believe the combination produces dogs, that can do all the
work that is asked of them.
I have put Obedience, Rally, Agility and also
a BH title on my dogs myself. I also show in the United Kennel Club rings as
well and several of my dogs will have the UCD before their names. If you read
through "THE STAR NEWS" you will see several of my clients have
competed and have done well with their dogs also.
If you are interested in one of my puppies,
please contact me. I have to warn you, when you purchase a puppy I
come with the package!! (Smile) I will be here for you when you have any
questions. If I do not know the answers, I certainly will try to find
someone who can help!!
WHAT OTHERS
THINK OF ME AS THEIR BREEDER
Hello Cynthia,
I apologize in advance for being so long-winded, but there is SO MUCH
to say about our beloved Arco!
Hope you are doing well, and enjoying the "babies", because we
certainly are loving ours!
He is an absolute joy in every way! He surprises me in so many ways,
and as I have told everyone, he acts more like my pink-papered male
than any GSD I have ever been around - and I have been around many.
Having done Schutzhund years ago, AKC obedience, dabbled in Ring-
Sport, etc., I have been exposed to quite a variety of GSD's.
Frankly, that is the very reason why I left the breed. So many
"quality" GSD's are super high energetic and high maintenance,
and
require so much time to get them just to settle down, that you never
really feel like they are your beloved pet, just a demanding, time
consumer with little desire to have any relationship with family.
Arco is so UN-demanding, and each family member enjoys spending time
with him daily. Which leads into another concern that I had, that
has been totally blown away - how wonderful it is that he has bonded
with each family member in his own way. He is not just "my
dog";
everyone loves him dearly, and he responds to each person on the
proper level. With my three year old daughter, he is never rough and
has never jumped on her, yet he watches her like a HAWK and does not
like to be far from her. With my twelve year old son, he is more of
a buddy and loves playing a little more frisky with him. Then with
our 21 year old son, he loves following him around and seems to know
that he has limited time - due to college, job, etc. With my
husband, after he comes home from work, he knows Dad will come play
with him, and of course me, the leash, treats, ball, etc., so he
knows obedience is coming. He walks on a leash beautifully, and sits
almost every time I stop. He works so well and so joyfully!
With
GSD's like this, yours are truly the greatest family pet.
I cannot say enough good things about your puppies. I had a GSD
puppy from a hard-core Schutzhund breeding, and the dog was
absolutely UNBEARABLE around the house. He destroyed our deck,
chairs, phone lines, and went totally nuts when the kids went
outside. This puppy had a "golden" pedigree, but we
hated being
outside with him, so needless to say, he went to a new owner. (His
ears NEVER came up!)
There is plenty of prey-drive in these pups - enough to do
Schutzhund, or whatever form of competition that one would want to,
but not so much that the dog must stay crated if not working. After
all, what good does the family protector and companion do for you if
he has to stay crated because he goes berserk all the time?
Anyway, I feel so strongly about your dogs, the breeding of these
puppies, conditioning of your puppies, that I just wanted to thank
you and ask that you keep producing these wonderful animals! If
someone wonders about your puppies, I would encourage them to go see
the difference in yours. Your puppies brought me back to one of the
greatest loves in my life. I had reached the conclusion that I could
not have a nice, quality GSD, at the same time as having and raising
a family. With today's busy lifestyles, and family time challenges,
it is such a blessing to be able to have such an ideal family
companion, and to top it off, he is SO BEAUTIFUL! Whoever said that
an excellent tempered dog had to be ugly? (Some Schutzhund
philosophers...)
The best GSD I ever owned was my pink-papered male. As an import, I
had high expectations. He met every single goal I had for him,yet
still remained the greatest family love-dog I ever knew. After he
died, I gave up on finding another "perfect" family companion,
and
after many years, I stumbled across your website. You are truly an
answer to prayer, and I am so thankful to have Arco. He has met
every single behavioral trait that my pink-papered one had, and is
almost a carbon-copy of him. It is so refreshing to see GSD's
meeting the breed standard...
This is sort of a "tongue-in-cheek" play on advice for puppy
buyers... Ha
TOP TEN REASONS NOT TO BUY ONE OF
CYNTHIA'S PUPPIES
1) You have no desire to have a loving, controllable, stable-
tempered GSD.
2) You want a dog that you cannot control, and must leave crated
during the time you are not actively working it.
3) You want to work the dog many hours per day, and won't be
disappointed with total destruction of your property.
4) You don't want to have a solid, trustworthy, companion for
yourself or your family.
5) You cannot see yourself with the same dog 10 years down the road.
6) You don't care about the stability of your animal, and only want
to show the dog off to your competition buddies.
7) You want a cheap, fear-biter that you can scare your neighbors
with (hope you have insurance!).
8) You are not interested in buying a beautiful animal with
incredible trainability.
9) You don't want to feel completely confident that this dog
would
protect you or your family for the duration of his life.
10) You have $3,000 that you just want to plunk down for an import,
that you do not get to even SEE before you buy!
Buying one of Cynthia's puppies was an incredible experience! She
has extremely clean quarters for the dogs, takes an amazing amount of
time with each pup to be sure it receives individual training, and is
so very patient and helpful with the dogs and the buyers! I highly
recommend Tidmores Rising Star Kennel to anyone looking for an
excellent quality GSD! There is a HUGE difference in these pups and
any others you may have seen. Look for yourself - the proof is in
the puppy!

Cynthia Tidmore – OUR
BREEDER
|
We
made a decision. We had to get
another German Shepherd. It had
been only a couple of weeks since our beloved, faithful, and fearless companion,
Jack, had passed away. Our home was
not the same, there was a HUGE void.
I
pen this message for any individual or family wanting to find a dedicated
breeder who is committed to breeding excellence. This task was not a new challenge for us.
We knew the particular breed we wanted.
Secondly, we needed to find a breeder.
We visited the kennel twice (a 2˝ hour drive from our home one
way) to meet Cynthia as well as inspect the conditions in which the dogs are kept.
We paid particular attention to the
overall quality of her dogs in her breeding program and check the cleanliness of
the kennel. We noted the sound
temperament of all Cynthia’s dogs. This purchase was most certainly not a standard business
transaction for us. This new puppy
is a living creature that will come home with us and live with us.
More importantly, this new puppy will have a profound impact on our life
for many years to come. It is our only child – a little ball of fur with four legs
– for now!
The
day finally arrived. We had been
preparing and secured all those necessary things – crate, kennel, seat belt,
toys, balls, leads, tennis balls on strings, bed, researched what we felt was
the best dog food, water and food bowls, etc., etc.
It
was very obvious from the start -- the
socialization to sounds, human contact and individual attention, prior grooming
sessions and being able to interact in unfamiliar environments had been of
absolute importance to Cynthia. Cynthia
did a remarkable job! We have great
respect for the diligence and the consistency of her program.
We took a towel for Cynthia to place within the kennel with Dam Scarlet
and the littermates a week before we picked up our new puppy.
We brought this home and placed in the crate the first night.
Our new puppy, B Zack, did not whine or cry at all the first night!
We
were both home with Zack the second day. He
played, napped and explored. Zack
showed no fear going room to room. While
napping, we could go about our normal schedule – cook, unload dishwasher, open
drawers, go outside or run the wash machine and he does not wake up.
Cynthia had given our B Zack many forms of social exposure.
B Zack’s basic social adjustment to his new den was complete by the end
of the 3rd day. I had to
wash the towel. On the 4th
day, B Zack was very confident and his emotional personality was one of such
Joy! His new life was balanced.
This would not have been possible without Cynthia’s dedication to many
forms of socialization to this litter -- (quality time of daily encounters,
creative play time allowing the finest elements of the litter’s individual
personality to develop, surfaces, sounds, children, human handling and
environmental changes, etc.).
A
personal note, B Zack’s favorite place to nap is on the towel that was with
his Mother and litter mates even though it has been washed several times. We
have not figured this one out yet! B
Zack exhibits a great prey drive – last night he attacked a 5-gallon Ozarka
water bottle by the front door! He
is intelligent! He figured out how
to tip it over, grab the neck and run with it…!
The bottle was bigger than he! It
was only 4 days after we brought B Zack home that he let us know when he had to
go outside – that was 7 weeks and 4 days! The awesome genetics of the Sire
V- BOBBY VOM STILLEN RAIN, SCHH1, KKL1, "a" and Dam
TIDMORES RISING STAR SCARLET CDX, NA absolutely beam in our B Zack!
He is truly a prodigy! My
husband is anxiously waiting for his final vaccination to get involved in formal
training – first; puppy school, beginners, novice and then the three separate
areas of Schutzhund, tracking, obedience and protection.
Our
deepest thanks to Cynthia Tidmore, Alice and Fred Von Stroman for this wonderful
puppy! Our new pack member has only
love to give and does not judge. We
humbly, gratefully and passionately embrace our new member!
